In a bid to ensure smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Dr. J. Ganeshan, the appointed General Observer for Bastar Lok Sabha constituency, along with Police Observer Mr. Ram Kishun, conducted a comprehensive review of election preparations in Bastar district. The meeting, chaired by Mr. Vijay Dayaram, the Collector and District Election Officer, took place at the District Office in Jagdalpur.
During the review, arrangements for polling centers across all three assembly constituencies of Bastar, as well as the inter-state and inter-district border check posts, sensitive areas, deployment plans for polling teams, security arrangements, EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) distribution, voter list verification, and other logistical aspects were discussed in detail.
Police Superintendent Mr. Shalabh Sinha briefed the officials about security and law enforcement preparations undertaken by the police administration for the elections.
Following the meeting, the observers inspected the facilities at Adarsh Mahavidyalaya, Dharampura, where a strong room for storing EVMs and VVPAT (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail) machines has been set up. They commended the arrangements made by the district administration for the safekeeping and distribution of polling materials.
Present at the occasion were Mr. Prakash Sarve, CEO of the District Panchayat, Additional Police Superintendent Mr. Maheshwar Nag, Deputy District Election Officer Mr. Praveen Verma, and other officials.
This thorough review underscores the commitment of district authorities to ensuring fair and efficient elections in Bastar.
