Raigarh Invests in Local Sports Talent with New Box Cricket and Badminton Courts

In a bid to promote sports talent in Raigarh, India, Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary inaugurated new box cricket and badminton courts on October 28, 2024. The facilities, constructed at Gorkha High School with an investment of ₹5.7 million (around $69,000 USD), represent a substantial investment in the region’s athletic future. These courts are designed to offer young athletes a dedicated space to hone their skills, reinforcing the government’s commitment to the community’s sporting aspirations.

New Facilities Aim to Boost Local Sports Development

The box cricket and badminton courts are a major part of Raigarh’s ongoing development projects. At the inauguration event, Minister Choudhary emphasized the importance of these facilities in helping local athletes nurture their talents. 1. Box Cricket and Badminton Courts:

Minister Choudhary announced other significant projects for Raigarh’s advancement. The government has made strides with several notable initiatives:

• Nalanda Campus Project:
  The NTPC Lara project has allocated ₹425.6 million (about $5.1 million USD) to build the Nalanda Campus, which will include a national-level library to promote education and research. This investment seeks to support future generations, providing students with a foundation for academic success and national recognition.
• Prayas Vidyalaya for Advanced Education:
  Raigarh’s newly established Prayas Vidyalaya offers students specialized preparation for competitive exams like IIT and medical entrance exams starting from the 9th grade. This is the first such school in Raigarh, designed to give local students a head start in competitive fields.
• Support for Local Farmers and Families:
  In keeping with agricultural support goals, a recent initiative has provided a bonus transfer of ₹37.16 billion ($440 million USD) to 1.2 million farmers, emphasizing the government’s dedication to agricultural growth. Additionally, under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana, the state has launched a support program for mothers, providing ₹1,000 ($12) monthly assistance to aid families with essential expenses.
