A 36-year-old deputy mamlatdar (taluka-level revenue official), Hinisha Patel, died by suicide at her home in Jahangirabad, Surat, on Monday morning while her husband, Ketan Patel, who is also a deputy mamlatdar, waited for her in the parking lot, reports Vishal Patadiya. The couple worked in the same office and used to commute together. Police have registered an accidental death case and started an investigation. “Inquiries with both families suggested there was no dispute that could have driven her to the extreme act. We haven’t found a suicide note yet” said an officer.
