The Central Board of Film Certification has mandated word changes in ‘Gustaakh Ishq’, starring Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Words like ‘Harami’ and ‘S*x’ were replaced with ‘Kameena’ and ‘aiyaashi’ respectively, though no scenes were cut. The romantic drama received a U/A 13+ certificate after these modifications.

‘Gustaakh Ishq’, starring Vijay Varma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Naseeruddin Shah, has hit the theaters today. The trailer of the film received a positive response from the audience. And now, reports about the movie’s film certification have surfaced on the internet. Reportedly, the makers were asked to make some changes in the romantic drama. Let’s take a look at it.

‘Gustaakh Ishq’ gets a U/A 13+ certificate

According to the Bollywood Hungama report, the Central Board of Film Certification granted ‘Gustaakh Ishq’ a U/A 13+ certificate. However, the certification came with several cuts suggested by the committee.As per the report, the makers have been asked to replace words like ‘Harami’ with ‘Kameena’ and ‘Kameeni’. The CBFC also suggested changing the word ‘rascal’ to ‘scoundrel,’ ‘sex’ to ‘aiyaashi,’ and ‘art of lovemaking.’ Meanwhile, the board has not asked to drop any scene from the movie. After the changes were made, the board granted the film the above-said certificate on November 11. Reportedly, the runtime of the film is 128.30 minutes, which is 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 30 seconds.

Apart from Vijay, Fatima, and Naseeruddin Shah, the film also stars Sharib Hashmi. It has been directed by Vibhu Puri, who is known for helming ‘Hawaizaada’. The movie was first screened at the International Film Festival of India, which was held in Goa on November 24.Meanwhile, at the trailer launch event, when Fatima Sana Shaikh was asked about the changing definition of love, the actress expressed, “Earlier, people used to think a lot before professing their love.” She further added, “Hence, it used to be a tactile experience. Now, people send memes, smileys. Hence, I long for slow, passionate, and deep love. Thoda hasna, thoda rona. Waise type ka pyaar mujhe pasand hai (a little laughter, a little crying. That’s the kind of love I like)!”On the other hand, Vijay Varma shared, “Now, we have a tag for everything. If your partner is silent, he’s accused of ghosting!” He further added, “Instead of understanding and accepting something, we tend to immediately tag and move on in life.”
