Priyadarshan’s Memoir to Feature Mohanlal |

Priyadarshan reveals that his memoir concludes with Mohanlal: 'Wanted my book to end with him'
Filmmaker Priyadarshan is penning his memoir, aiming for a 2027 release, coinciding with his 100th film. Having completed his 97th movie, ‘Haiwaan’, he’s also working on his 98th. The legendary director plans to dedicate the final chapter to actor Mohanlal, who starred in his debut and is expected to feature in his milestone 100th film.

Priyadarshan needs no introduction. The name stands synonymous with good films, and the audience across the nation has trust in the brand that he is. Looks like Priyadarshan is now working on his memoir! Yes, you heard that right. Priyadarshan may have completed filming for two films – ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and ‘Haiwaan’- in 2025. But he also managed to squeeze in some time to finish his memoir! Talking to mid-day, Priyadarshan revealed that he is writing his memoir, which he plans to release in 2027! By the time he completes his 100th film! “I am writing, shooting, and writing again. I have completed my 97th movie, Haiwaan, starring Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. The 98th will be with Pankaj Tripathi, Annu Kapoor, and Saurabh Shukla. I want to complete my memoir by 2027 as I should wrap up my 100th film by then,” he told the publication. ‘Haiwaan’ starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan is Priyadarshan’s 97th film! Yes, four decades, and nearly 100 movies. What an illustrious career. Well, that’s not it! Legendary actor Mohanlal will be on almost every page of that memoir. How could he not? Their rapport and camaraderie on and off-screen deserve to be made into a series. Perhaps with 10 seasons, with 100 episode in each! Priyadarshan’s debut directorial, Poochakkoru Mookkuthi (1984) featured Mohanlal, and later they collaborated multiple times, most emerging as a blockbuster. So, Pridarshan of course is going to conclude his book talking about Mohanlal. “Mohanlal was the hero of my first film. I want to end my book with the last chapter on him. I think it’s the first time in the history of Indian cinema that an actor, who did a director’s first film, is also the hero of his 100th,” the director revealed.
