The Enforcement Directorate has asked actor Jayaram to come for questioning next Tuesday (February 17). The case is linked to the Sabarimala gold theft. The ED wants to talk to the actor and understand some parts of the story more clearly. Earlier, the SIT had called him as a witness and now the ED also wants to hear what he has to say.Reports from Mathrubhumi say the ED may also call Unnikrishnan Potti for questioning soon.

Focus on his link with Unnikrishnan Potti

Reports say that ED officers will look at Jayaram’s friendship and money dealings with Unnikrishnan Potti.Jayaram has said before that he knew Potti very well and told media that they met first during the Makaravilakku season. After that, Potti came to Jayaram’s home in Chennai many times. Jayaram had said, “I had a close acquaintance with Unnikrishnan Potti. I knew him as an important person in Sabarimala.” He also said that he took part in a pooja at Smart Creations only because Potti asked him to come.

Questions about the two poojas

There were earlier reports that Jayaram gave mixed answers about the poojas that used the golden plates. This made the SIT check his statements.During questioning, Jayaram had said both poojas happened on the same day. But later details showed that the pooja at Smart Creations was in June 2019. That pooja used golden “kattilla” plates.The pooja at Jayaram’s home used dwarapalaka plates. That one happened in September. This raised a big question. Why did he say the poojas were on the same day when they were two months apart? Reportedly the SIT looked closely at these points while recording his statement.

Jayaram says he has no ties with Smart Creations

Reportedly Jayaram told during the police questioning that the SIT that he had no link at all with Smart Creations. He also said he did not know the sponsors or owners of the place. The actor said he only went there because Potti invited him for the pooja. Jayaram said the pooja at his house was done only because the dwarapalaka plates were brought there and also said that was the only reason for holding the pooja.

Actor busy with new film ‘Aashakal Aayiram‘

On the work front, Jayaram’s new film “Aashakal Aayiram” released recently where he stars in it along with his son Kalidas Jayaram.The movie has crossed more than Rs 2.66 crore worldwide by day 5 as reported by the Sacnilk website. In India, the net box office total is Rs 2.39 crore.The numbers are steady. Day 1 was Rs 46 lakh. Day 2 was Rs 62 lakh. Day 3 went up to Rs 72 lakh. Day 4 made Rs 29 lakh. Day 5 made Rs 30 lakh.
