Michael B. Jordan starrer ‘Sinners’ has made record breaking nominations for the 2026 Oscars. The film with nominations in 16 categories including best picture and best actor for Jordan, has got ‘big shots’ rooting for its success at the 98th Academy Awards. Marvel Cinematic Universe President, Kevin Feige, has hailed the Ryan Coogler directed film and said “It should win best picture” for the music “alone.”

Kevin Feige shared in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter why he feels ‘Sinners’ should take the best picture award. Feige said, “The music was incredibly meaningful to me, and I told Ryan that my jaw was on the floor. It should win best picture for that alone.”

Feige feels that award bodies do not always recognize films that resonate most strongly with audiences at the moment. “The Academy doesn’t always, in my opinion, recognize the movies that are most relevant for audiences today,” he continued. “But, boy, did they hit it with this one.”

Feige’s comments come as Sinners continues an unprecedented awards run. The film earned 16 Academy Award nominations, the most ever for a single film, surpassing the previous record of 14.
Other celebrities who hailed ‘Sinners’
Previously too, Michael B. Jordan starrer supernatural thriller received praises from some big celebrities including Tom Cruise, Ben Stiller, and LeBron James. In an April 2025 post on Instagram, Tom Cruise shared a photo of himself with ‘Sinners’ poster and said “must see in a cinema and stay through the end credits!” In Sinners, Jordan plays twin brothers who are trying to leave their troubled lives behind and return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. The film stars Jordan in a dual-role along with Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller and Delroy Lindo.
