NEW DELHI: Around 65.9 lakh cyber-fraud complaints involving a total amount of Rs 55,659 crore were reported by citizens over the past five years via the national cybercrime reporting portal (NCRP) and the citizen financial cyber fraud reporting and management system (CFCFRMS) of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), as per home ministry.Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, junior home minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar said over 24 lakh cyber-fraud complaints were reported in 2025, as against 19.2 lakh in 2024, 13.1 lakh in 2023, 6.9 lakh in 2022 and 2.6 lakh in 2021. The annual cyber-fraud amount reported on NCRP and CFCFRMS has risen exponentially from Rs 551 crore to Rs 22,495 crore in 2025, though the latter is slightly less than the Rs 22,848 crore reported in 2024.Kumar shared that CFCFRMS had saved more than Rs 8,189 crore from being siphoned off by fraudsters, in action taken in 23.6 lakh complaints.
