When Farhan Akhtar unveiled ‘Don 3’ in 2023 with Ranveer Singh taking over the iconic role, the announcement instantly sparked divided reactions. The franchise had long been associated with Shah Rukh Khan, and fans were unsure about the change in guard. What followed was a series of delays, mounting speculation, and eventually, Ranveer’s exit from the project, post the success of ‘Dhurandhar’. Soon after he stepped away, rumours began circulating that Hrithik Roshan would replace him. Reports suggested that allegedly, they approached Hrithik Roshan behind Ranveer’s back, to play the main role instead. However, the actor has now dismissed the chatter altogether. Hrithik, who is currently gearing up to direct ‘Krrish 4’, clarified that there was no truth to the claims and that he was never in talks for the film.Addressing the speculation, Roshan told Variety India, “What started off as just a rumour has now taken a life of its own, and it’s important to set the record straight. I would like to categorically clarify that I was never approached for ‘Don 3’ at any given time. I request the media to steer clear of any such unverified reports.”Meanwhile, the fallout between Ranveer and the makers appears to have intensified. Reports suggest that Farhan has alleged financial losses amounting to Rs 40 crore following Ranveer’s departure and is seeking compensation. On the other hand, Ranveer has reportedly accused Excel Entertainment of unprofessional conduct and delays, which he claims impacted the film’s progress. According to industry buzz, dissatisfaction with the script is said to be one of the primary reasons behind Ranveer’s decision to exit. The matter gained further traction after Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani approached the Producers Guild of India, requesting that Ranveer return money to offset the alleged losses caused by his sudden departure. However, Ranveer has reportedly maintained that he never accepted any remuneration or signing amount for the film, firmly pushing back against the claims. The controversy continues to fuel conversations in the industry as Don 3 remains caught in uncertainty.
