NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday landed at the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on the Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh for his day long Assam visit. The Prime Minister was received at the Chabua airfield by Assam governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and senior state government officials.PM Modi also witnessed an aerial display by the Indian Air Force (IAF), featuring fighter jets, transport aircraft and helicopters, before taking off for Guwahati from the Emergency Landing Facility aboard a C-130 aircraft.The Prime Minister will address the BJP’s “Booth Sanmilan” meeting at the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara, where more than 86,000 booth-level party workers are expected to gather. Authorities have tightened security in Guwahati ahead of the visit.During his day-long visit to Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu across the Brahmaputra River, linking Guwahati with North Guwahati.The six-lane extradosed prestressed concrete (PSC) bridge, built at a cost of around Rs 3,030 crore, is the first extradosed bridge in Northeast India.PM Modi will also inaugurate the temporary campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati, a move expected to strengthen higher and management education in the region.He will flag off 225 electric buses under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme in four cities, Guwahati (100), Nagpur (50), Bhavnagar (50) and Chandigarh (25).The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the National Data Centre for the North Eastern Region at Amingaon in Kamrup district.
