In a recent interview, Jackson White, the lead of ‘Tell Me Lies,’ opened up about his dynamic friendship with co-star Grace Van Patten.

After the dramatic ending of ‘Tell Me Lies’ with the season 3 finale, Jackson White, who played the part of Stephan in the series, is reflecting on his off-screen relationship with co-star Grace Van Patten. Recently, in a candid conversation, White shared how, in the future, his relationship with Grace could mirror that of his mom, Katey Sagal, and stepdad Kurt Sutter, who both worked on ‘Sons of Anarchy.’

Jackson White reflects on childhood conversations

On the February 18 episode of the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast, Jackson said, “I saw that happen… Parents working together was a thing.” The 29-year-old emphasized how ingrained ‘Sons of Anarchy’ was in his childhood, where his mother Katey starred as Gemma. The show was created by his stepdad, whom she married in 2004. “It was great,” he recalled. “It was cool.”

Jackson White imagines a future with Grace Van Patten

He grew up watching his parents collaborate professionally, and he thinks that if he and Grace continue working together in Hollywood, their future (even with kids) could look similar. “That was the big family discussion for many years, that show. It’s like if Grace and I had a kid,” said the actor. “They would know Tell Me Lies intimately even if they hadn’t seen it,” Jackson continued. “I know everything about that show.

‘Tell Me Lies’ is a familiar topic for Jackson White’s family

As for Jackson White’s family, the series ‘Tell Me Lies’ isn’t something unfamiliar to them. It became a family affair when Katey joined the cast to play his onscreen mom. Although Jackson wasn’t sure about Katey’s addition at first, the idea eventually grew on him. “There’s a little kid thing where you’re like, ‘No, it’s mine,’” he admitted to host Alex Cooper of letting his mom in on the series. “But then I thought, ‘Oh yeah, it’s fine. No, it’s great.’ I thought it was really full circle.”

Jackson White on separating real life from the screen

Jackson also reflected on how working on the series, which concluded with its third and final season on Feb. 17, could sometimes make it difficult to separate his real life from the screen. “You want not let it blend, but I think it does.”
