Comedian Zakir Khan shares new updates with his fans
In a recent appearance, the comedian shared that there have been a lot of rumours circulating about his sabbatical from comedy, which he felt the need to address. He shared that one of the main reasons behind announcing the break comes from the influx of writing projects. At a recent public appearance, he stated, “Mere paas writing ka bahut kaam aa gaya tha, jo mai pichle 6 saal se kar nai pa raha tha” (I had received a lot of writing projects recently, something which I hadn’t been able to do in the past 6 years.)He further added that “Health thodi se kharab hai, bahut zyada kharab nai hai. Tumne jo internet pe padha hai woh jhooth hai, bhai. Mai stage minus 20 pe hoon” (My health is a little bad, not a lot. Whatever you have read on the internet is false. I am at stage minus 20.) Khan further clarified that he and his entire family were left wondering about who all spread the rumors online and cited that many people were making false claims about how the news had come from a ‘close source.’He then concluded his statement by saying, “Jabtak zinda hoon, aapki khidmat mein hoon” (I am at your service till my last breath.)A few weeks prior to this appearance, Khan had shared that he would soon be taking a step away from doing stand-up comedy. During one of his Hyderabad shows from his ‘Papa Yaar tour,’ the idol had shared the update. Fan uploaded videos of the event had since then gone viral online. In another interview with Gulf News, the comedian explained how this felt like the right time to care for other things in life, including his health, and that the decision was not made lightly.
He added, “I’ve been touring for many years now… It’s time for me to look after my health. I’ve tried to balance work and health, but I need a time out to manage things. But I love to perform; I want to do it when I’m 80, which means I need to do this now.”
Over the years, Zakir Khan has made a name for himself in the comedy scene and has even featured in a multitude of OTT reality comedy shows. Some of these include ‘Comicstaan’, ‘Aapka Apna Zakir’, ‘India’s Best Stand Up’, and ‘Zakir Khan: Delulu Express.’
