After the massive success of Ranveer Singh‘s Dhurandhar, which surprised many with its 3-hour-34-minute runtime and still emerged as a box office phenomenon, the makers are pushing the envelope further with Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The sequel, riding high on unprecedented buzz, is now said to be even longer than the first part. According to Bollywood Hungama, the film is expected to run for approximately 235 minutes, that is, 3 hours and 55 minutes. In certain regions, however, the circulating information suggests a slightly shorter duration of 3 hours and 40 minutes. Either way, the sequel is longer than Dhurandhar, which had a precise runtime of 214.01 minutes (3 hours, 34 minutes and 1 second). Trade insiders add that the extended length aligns with audience demand, as viewers reportedly still can’t get enough of the franchise. If the first part was addictive, the second has been designed to hold audiences for an even longer stretch.A clearer picture regarding the final runtime is expected within a week.If the 3-hour-55-minute duration holds, Dhurandhar: The Revenge could become one of the lengthiest Hindi films ever — and the second longest in the last 26 years after LOC Kargil (4 hours 7 minutes), directed by J. P. Dutta. It would also surpass Lagaan (3 hours 44 minutes).
Trailer likely on Holi; mega clash awaits
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi. The first part, which revolved around an Indian spy infiltrating Pakistan’s criminal and political nexus, became the highest-grossing Bollywood film after witnessing a remarkable surge in its second week. The sequel releases on March 19.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the trailer is now likely to be unveiled earlier than expected — on Tuesday, March 3, coinciding with Holi. Instead of a grand launch event, the makers are said to be planning a direct digital drop. Interestingly, the film will face a gigantic box office clash with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas and headlined by Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and Huma Qureshi. Its trailer will be launched on March 8 in Bengaluru at a grand event.
