'From Karachi to Malad in seconds': Fans spot Mumbai mall in Ranveer Singh’s 'Gehra Hua' song from 'Dhurandhar'
Fans rewatch ‘Dhurandhar pre-Revenge’ (March 19), spotting ‘Gehra Hua’ mall as Mumbai’s Inorbit Malad—not Pakistan. Idols of Ganesha, Buddha break immersion. X: “Karachi to Malad!” Production: Lyari set in Bangkok; shot in Ladakh, etc.

Ranveer Singh‘s espionage thriller ‘Dhurandhar’ continues to captivate fans nearly three months after its December 5 release. With ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ slated for March 19, viewers are rewatching the film and dissecting every minute detail. While the song ‘Gehra Hua’ was meant to showcase a tender moment between Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun, it instead turned into a geo-tagging challenge for fans. Social media users quickly identified the distinctive architecture and flooring of Inorbit Mall in Malad West, Mumbai, despite the narrative being set in Pakistan. The immersion was further broken by background details that many felt were “hilarious” oversights for a high-budget spy flick.

‘Dhurandhar’s ‘Gehra Hua’ song mall

A clip from the song ‘Gehra Hua,’ showing Ranveer and Sara Arjun in a mall, has gone viral on social media. Not for the track or their spark, but because fans just spotted that the “Pakistan” in the movie eerily resembles Mumbai. Eagle-eyed viewers clocked the mall as none other than Inorbit Mall in Malad West, Mumbai, where the duo strolls casually. Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) users quickly pointed out cultural inconsistencies in the “Pakistan-set” mall scenes.

‘Dhurandhar’ social media buzz

Social media lit up after fans made the connection. “Ranveer and Sara go shopping in a mall… that’s Malad ka Inorbit bro!!! It just gives me the ick when you’re fully in a movie storyline, and suddenly the shoot location turns out to be a nearby local area,” vented one X user, capping it with: from Karachi straight to Malad in seconds. Then came the real kicker: background screenshots exposing Nataraja, Ganesha, and Buddha statues in a shop—hilarious for a Pakistan-set scene. “Can Dhurandhar fanboys tell me how Ganesh, Buddha, Nataraja idols are being sold in Pakistan?” jabbed a Reddit commenter. Others shrugged it off: “Sometimes directors make mistakes & look only at characters & acting rather than some random background.”

‘Dhurandhar’ production reveal

Saini S Johray, the production designer, debunked rumors by explaining the Lyari sequences dodged India entirely, crafted instead on an expansive six-acre replica in Bangkok, Thailand. “It took me almost three months to design this film in terms of breakdown,” he shared in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter India. Shooting extended to Ladakh, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, and Amritsar.

More about ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’

‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ brings Ranveer back as Hamza Ali Mazari/Jaskirat Singh Rangi, picking up from the first film’s cliffhanger as he tightens his grip over Lyari while pushing deeper into Pakistan’s political nexus and crime syndicates. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the high-octane sequel releases worldwide on March 19, 2026, timed with Gudi Padwa, Ugadi and Eid, and promises bigger set pieces, and an expanded ensemble including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R. Madhavan.
