‘Ramayana‘ headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, is emerging as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema, with its release slated for Diwali 2026. The film is divided in two parts and the second installment is set to hit the screens on Diwali 2027. The first look teaser of the film revealing Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama was unveiled recently and since then there’s been immense buzz about it all over. As anticipation builds, producer Namit Malhotra is currently negotiating a major OTT deal for the two-part epic. Reports suggest that he recently turned down a massive Rs 700 crore offer for the digital rights.A report in Bollywood Hungama quoted a source saying that this Rs 700 crore offer covered both installments of the film, but Namit declined it, considering the scale and investment behind the project. “He is expecting a Rs 1,000 crore deal from OTT players, leaving Rs 3,000 crore to be recovered from other sources, including global theatrical,” the source stated to the portal. The update further indicates that Namit remains confident about securing a higher deal, given the film’s global appeal. “It’s a film that gives all platforms global reach. And Rs 1,000 crore for two films put together is a rather good price given the potential. He is holding the rights close to his chest and will partner with the right player at the right price. There’s a possibility for him to sell just Part 1 now and hold back Part 2 till the release of Part 1, a strategy that team ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge’ opted for,” the report further stated. ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ features an ensemble cast including Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film’s music is being composed by Hans Zimmer and A R Rahman.
