Ram Gopal Varma is known for making some iconic gangster movies like ‘Satya‘ and ‘Company’. Not to mention, these films also required him to get a deep insight into the life of gangsters, which is why, he had a very ‘humanly’ approach towards these characters. When ‘Satya’ was re-released in theatres last year as the film completed 27 years, Varma had spoken about why he portrayed these gangsters in such a vulnerable, humanly way. Here’s recalling what Varma had said amidst the success of ‘Dhurandhar 2’, which also portrayed Dawood Ibrahim‘s character. He runs a high temperature. I thought that was incredible. A gangster getting a fever was not something I thought of. See, all these keep adding in my movies. One female reporter was one of the only ones who met Dawood Ibrahim. She met him once and he had a high cold. Another guy told me, you are scared of Dawood because he’s on phone, he’s an unknown man. But if you knew he stays in Bandra, you wouldn’t be scared of him He might be having the same power but you would think like, ‘aree idhar hi rehta hai’,” laughed the director .
