Sharmila Tagore celebrated her 81st birthday today. The legendary actress known for movies like ‘Amar Prem’, ‘Aaradhana’, ‘Chupke Chupke’ among others is still loved and remembered for her beauty, grace and acting prowess. She celebrated her birthday with her children – Soha Ali Khan, Saif Ali Khan and grand-daughter Sara Ali Khan. However, seemingly Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif’s sister Saba Ali Pataudi were missing from the celebrations. Soha shared photos from the intimate celebrations which also included some of her friends, said, “My amma on her birthday, missed you, Apa @sabapataudi.” Sara Ali Khan ensured she was by her grandmother’s side for the big day. Before joining the celebration, she had already taken to social media to wish her, posting a sweet picture and writing, “Happiest birthday to the Chanda and Suraj of our family (two hearts, love hands, and full moon face emojis). Love you beyond words, Badi Amma.”While Kareena missed the birthday celebrations, she shared some photos on social media, wishing her on birthday. The actress wrote, “Happy birthday, dearest mother-in-law.” In one of the images, Saif Ali Khan is seen posing with Sharmila Tagore, who lovingly holds little Jeh. The next snapshot shows Kareena walking alongside Sharmila, with the text across the image saying, “Always trying to follow in your footsteps.”The final picture saw Sharmila Tagore smiling as she plays with her youngest grandson, Jeh, during a day out at the park. For those not in the know, Tagore shared her birthday with Dharmendra who passed away recently, on November 24, just days before his 90th birthday. The actress wrote a moving note for her birthday twin for Indian Express. She wrote, “Looking back across the decades, the light that falls on Dharmendra remains unchanged. It is a curious thing to say about someone whose career has spanned such a vast and changing landscape of Hindi cinema, but that is what I have always felt: An unaltered, steady radiance.“ She added, “Perhaps it is because even when he was being celebrated as the ‘He-Man’ of Indian cinema, or adored as one of our most beautiful stars, Dharmendra himself seemed pleasantly unaffected by all of it. He carried fame lightly as though it belonged to someone else.” “To have known him, to have worked with him, is to have experienced a rare and steady light, one that illuminated not just the screen, but all of us who stood beside him,” Tagore said.
