Punjab Kings later released a statement clarifying their position: “The Shashank Singh we secured was always on our target list.” The franchise explained that the confusion arose because “two players of the same name” were available, adding that they were “delighted to have him on board.”The situation involved two players named Shashank Singh in the auction. The one acquired by Punjab Kings is an all-rounder from Chhattisgarh who previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, while the other Shashank Singh went unsold in an earlier round.The purchased player took to social media to address the situation positively, writing: “It’s all cool … thank you for trusting on me!!!!”The accelerated auction format, designed for quick decisions, highlighted how such name-based confusion could create momentary complications during the bidding process.
