Delhi poll body said Raghav Chadha’s voter registration in Rajinder Nagar was approved after the mandatory seven-day notice period, while AAP alleged irregularities

NEW DELHI: The Delhi poll body on Wednesday said BJP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha’s application to be added to the Delhi voter list was approved after due procedure, days after the AAP questioned his inclusion.“As per record available, Raghav Chadha, MP (Rajya Sabha) applied for inclusion of his name in Form 6 in AC-39 (Rajinder Nagar) on August 26,” news agency PTI quoted Delhi chief electoral officer as saying.“The Form was approved by the Electoral Registration Officer of the AC-39 (Rajinder Nagar) after completion of mandatory notice period of 07 days,” it added. The application, numbered U05039D6N2608261200000, was processed under the Election Commission’s prescribed procedure. The AAP, however, rejected the explanation and alleged that Chadha’s name was added to the electoral roll “through the back door”. The party also questioned whether political pressure was involved.AAP national media-in-charge Anurag Dhanda demanded that Chadha’s Form 6 be made public and said citizens should be allowed to raise objections against it as they can for any ordinary voter.
