NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday indicated that it may transfer the Satya Niketan building collapse case from the Delhi High Court to itself, while widening the scope of the matter to examine the commercial use of residential areas across Delhi-NCR.A bench of Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R Mahadevan said its focus would broadly be on the alleged commercial exploitation of areas designated as residential in Delhi-NCR.The bench also asked the Delhi government to assist the court in examining the broader issue.“Let not Delhi HC pass orders. We will fail if we don’t have assistance from you,” Justice Amanullah told Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, who appeared for the Delhi government. The Supreme Court’s indication came while hearing the matter relating to the Satya Niketan building collapse.
