Cillian Murphy’s 19-year-old son Aran Murphy has found himself at the centre of a social media buzz after making a rare red-carpet appearance at the UK screening of HBO’s upcoming comedy series ‘Youth’ at BAFTA in London on September 11.Aran, who stars in the series as Ruari, the teenage son of Sharon Horgan’s character, was joined by fellow cast members. While the budding talent was there to promote his own acting venture, it was his striking resemblance to his father that quickly caught the attention of fans online. Photos and clips from the red carpet prompted viewers to point out similarities not only in his facial features but also in his voice, expressions and mannerisms. One viral social media reaction read, “There’s no need to mention his name; you all know who his father is,” while another fan described the resemblance to Cillian Murphy as “copy and paste”.The young talent, meanwhile, has acknowledged that being the son of an internationally recognised actor comes with advantages, while making it clear that he wants to establish his own career. Aran made his acting debut in the 2022 film ‘Lola’ and has since landed a role in the upcoming HBO and Sky series ‘WAR’, alongside Sienna Miller and Dominic West. He is also part of the cast of Taika Waititi’s ‘Klara and the Sun’, which stars Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams. His performance in ‘Youth’ has also earned praise from co-star Sharon Horgan. In a recent interview with The Guardian, Horgan said, “We really got lucky with Aran. There’s nothing about him that isn’t real. It made life so much easier to be working with someone who you literally can’t see acting.”Cillian Murphy shares Aran and his older son Malachy with artist Yvonne McGuinness. ‘The Oppenheimer’ star has generally kept his family life private, making Aran’s increasing presence on screen and at industry events all the more notable.
