Chris Hemsworth is celebrating a big win for his 14-year-old daughter, India Rose, after she took first place in a bull-riding competition where she was the only girl competing. The actor shared videos from the event on Instagram, showing his daughter riding a bucking bull before celebrating the result with her.Hemsworth called his daughter “savage” in his post and proudly pointed out that she was the only girl in the competition, yet she won. The moment also gave fans a glimpse into the adventurous side of the teenager, who has previously been involved in equestrian sports and motocross.
India Rose takes on an all-boys bull-riding competition
In one of the videos Hemsworth shared, India Rose can be seen holding on as the bull moves around the arena. Another clip captures a father-daughter moment before the competition, with Hemsworth cheering her on and calling her a champion bull rider. The actor jokingly asked his daughter whether she would be able to stay on for seven seconds. India immediately corrected him, explaining that the target was eight seconds. Hemsworth then laughed off the correction, responding, “Eight seconds, what do I know?”The videos quickly drew attention because India was not simply participating alongside other young riders; she was the only female contestant in the competition. Hemsworth’s proud reaction made the achievement even more personal for his followers.
Why did Chris Hemsworth name his daughter India Rose?
India’s name has its own connection to the country, something Hemsworth explained years before her latest sporting achievement.During a 2019 conversation with news agency IANS while promoting ‘Men in Black: International’, Hemsworth was asked about his daughter’s name. He explained that his wife, Elsa Pataky, had spent a considerable amount of time in India and said that was where the name originally came from. The actor also spoke warmly about his own experience in the country. Hemsworth had travelled to India in 2018 to film his Netflix project ‘Extraction’, then known as ‘Dhaka’, shooting scenes in Ahmedabad and Mumbai. He described the experience as both intimidating and exciting, particularly because of the crowds that gathered during filming. He also spoke about the warmth he and the production received while working in the country.
The name had another story behind it
Hemsworth had actually spoken about the name several years earlier, shortly after India Rose was born.In a 2012 interview with E! News, he explained that he had always liked names such as Indie or Indiana, while Pataky liked India. Rather than settling on one immediately, the couple decided the name would work whether their child was a boy or a girl. Hemsworth said it eventually “just seemed to fit.”The later IANS interview added another layer to that story by explaining the family’s personal connection with India.
When India Rose appeared alongside her father Chris Hemsworth?
Bull riding is not the only unusual experience India has shared with her famous parents. She also appeared alongside Hemsworth in the Marvel film ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, playing Love, the daughter of Gorr the God Butcher. Her father has previously described the children’s involvement in the film as a one-off family experience rather than the beginning of a professional acting career.India has also been seen taking part in equestrian activities and motocross. Her mother, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, has shared glimpses of their family’s interest in horses and outdoor activities.
Chris Hemsworth’s family life away from Hollywood
Hemsworth and Pataky married in 2010 and have three children: India Rose and twin sons Sasha and Tristan. The family has largely based its life in Australia, with Hemsworth and Pataky often sharing outdoor moments rather than keeping their children closely tied to Hollywood. India’s latest competition is another glimpse of that lifestyle, this time showing her taking on a sport that is very different from the world her father is known for on screen.
