NEW DELHI: Bajrang Dal denied having any plans to gather its volunteers at Jantar Mantar on October 10 during the planned demonstration against chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, in response to claims that right-wing groups have been organized to use violence against the protesters. The Bajrang Dal said it had consistently opposed “anarchic protest” in the country and objected to demonstrations being held in the name of targeting Kumar, according to a post on X.“Some people are engaged in spreading misleading propaganda about Bajrang Dal workers coming to Jantar Mantar. There is no such plan from the Bajrang Dal,” it said.

The statement followed an allegation by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convener Ashutosh Ranka, who claimed on X that a person “higher up in the BJP ranks” had told him that right-wing fringe groups were being mobilised from across the country to target peaceful protesters with violence, according to the PTI report.Ranka said the CJP’s proposed October 10 demonstration would remain peaceful and warned that violence against people would not be tolerated. The Bajrang Dal, meanwhile, said the “so-called agitation” would meet its “natural death” without public support, similar to other such movements in the past.
