This international setback follows earlier controversies surrounding the film’s content and statements made by the director. Despite the bans, the film’s domestic release in Tamil Nadu remains on track.

Mohan G’s entry into the Kollywood world came with ‘Pazhaiya Vannarapettai,’ and he subsequently went on to direct movies like ‘Draupathi, ‘Rudra Thandavam,’ or ‘Bakasuran.’ All these years, he has successfully established his presence with strong political and social perspectives in his films. Particularly known for his ideological bias, director Mohan G has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons for depicting certain groups and communities and alternate versions of history in a controversial manner. After ‘Dhurandhar,’ the Qatar government has now banned ‘Draupathi’, directed by Mohan G, marking a significant setback for the film’s overseas prospects.
