Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta are winning hearts with their stellar performances in ‘Vadh 2’, which premiered in theatres on February 6. The veteran stars have been on a busy promotional spree for the film. During an interview, Mishra expressed his admiration for Babil Khan, son of the late Irrfan Khan, noting how closely Babil resembles his father during his National School of Drama days.

Speaking to Mashable India, Sanjay recalled an emotional moment when he spotted a hospital and revealed it was the same place where the late Irrfan Khan had passed away. Neena Gupta, taken aback, shared that she hadn’t known about it and had assumed Irrfan was overseas at the time. Reflecting on the late actor’s son, Babil Khan, Mishra went on to praise him with heartfelt words, saying, “Bada cute lagta hai yaar. Kabhi kabhi lagta hai young Irrfan Bhai hai, NSD wale. Ek dum aise hi dikhte the. (He looks so cute, yaar. Sometimes, he even reminds me of a young Irrfan Bhai from his NSD days. He used to look exactly the same).”

Irrfan Khan is known as one of India’s most respected actors. Even during his early days at the National School of Drama, he showed great passion and honesty in his work. He gave amazing performances in movies like ‘Maqbool’, ‘Haider’, ‘Life of Pi’, and ‘The Lunchbox’. Irrfan passed away on April 29, 2020, at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after fighting bravely against a neuroendocrine tumour.

Irrfan’s son, Babil Khan, stepped into acting in 2022 with his debut in the Netflix film ‘Qala’. Since then, he has appeared in projects like ‘Friday Night Plan’, ‘The Railway Men’, and ‘Logout’.

It was first shown on November 23, 2025, at the 56th International Film Festival of India. The film was later released in theatres on February 6. After its release, Netflix reportedly bought the rights to stream it online. ‘Vadh 2’ is a follow-up to the hit film ‘Vadh’, which was praised for its strong story.
