Turns out, Kid Rock’s ‘All-American halftime show’ couldn’t impress the superhero, after all! Simu Liu didn’t hold back after Kid Rock’s so-called ‘All-American halftime show’ tried to steal some thunder from Bad Bunny’s historic 2026 Super Bowl halftime performance. The Marvel actor jumped into the conversation right as social media exploded with takes on both shows.
What happened
For the unversed, Bad Bunny, the American rapper and singer hailing from Puerto Rico, brought the house down at Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara on February 8, 2026. His halftime show was loud, colorful, and unapologetically Latin — mostly in Spanish, packed with dancers and all kinds of cultural nods. It’s safe to say that language wasn’t a barrier at all; people from all over the world enjoyed it. The numbers are a testament, as more than 135 million watched around the world, making it one of the biggest Super Bowl halftime shows ever. However, some conservative voices weren’t happy about the language or the themes and decided to put up their own version of ‘All-American halftime show’.
Kid Rock’s ‘All-American halftime show’
In the middle of all this, Turning Point USA put together its own ‘All-American halftime show’ for viewers who weren’t feeling Bad Bunny’s vibe. Kid Rock headlined the show, promising a performance aimed at conservative fans. Instead, the whole thing went off the rails. People online roasted the show for awkward lip syncing, weird audio delays, and clumsy editing. In fact, people online reported that at times, Kid Rock’s mic wasn’t even close to matching the vocals. It didn’t take long before everyone was calling it a cheap, pre-recorded mess.Kid Rock tried to explain himself on Fox News, blaming everything on technical issues and saying the performance was taped ahead of time — but not faked. However, the internet wasn’t convinced. Social media called the show embarrassing, especially compared to Bad Bunny’s main event.
Simu Liu’s reaction to Kid Rock’s show
Simu Liu saw all this internet chatter and jumped right in. The Marvel superhero posted on X (formerly, Twitter), mixing disbelief and a bit of sarcasm: “am I seriously hallucinating or did they actually set up a ‘halftime show’ with kid rock lip syncing for a crowd of seven people to assert white dominance?!?!? whatever; bad bunny was totally LIT.” His take went viral in no time.Notably, Turning Point USA’s ‘All-American halftime show’ only pulled about five million viewers online. For the unversed, Simu Liu entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ that released in 2021. Liu was recently featured in the spy action thriller series ‘The Copenhagen Test’, where he shared the screen with Melissa Barrera.
