It’ll soon be 2 decades since the release of the hit show ‘Hanna Montana’ and to mark the speial milestone, pop star Miley Cyrus has announced her new television event titled ‘Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special’. Taking to her social media handles, Cyrus announced the special in a post that read, “Going back to where it all began,” and revealed that the special will premiere on March 24. The singer and actress also shared a video of teaser of herself pulling up at Stage 9 at the studio lot in a car bearing the license plate “HM 20”. As she steps out of the car in her gold and black boots, the show’s theme song, ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ plays in the background.

Cyrus has also spoken candidly about her complicated relationship with the show’s music. Appearing on The Ringer podcast, she said, “After I left Disney, I wasn’t allowed to perform any of the ‘Hannah Montana’ music. It’s not like I wanted to, I mean, performing ‘The Best Of Both Worlds’ between ‘We Can’t Stop’ and ‘Wrecking Ball,’ wouldn’t have really made sense. It was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn’t allowed to sing them.“

In 2024, Cyrus was named a Disney Legend at D23, after which she was once again permitted to perform songs from the series. “It was pretty cool,” she said.During her Disney Legend acceptance speech, Cyrus reflected on her journey, “A little bit of everything has changed, … but at the same time, nothing has changed at all, I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana.
