When asked directly about the “truth” behind the affair, RGV offered a philosophical yet firm denial stating, “You see my point… if there was a truth why would I not say it? This is a long time you’re talking about—28 years. The point is, I wouldn’t like to talk about anything that happened such a long time ago. I can always deny it, and that’s the same thing I would do [even now].”

Reports from the 90s suggested that the speculation took a toll on RGV’s marriage to his now ex-wife, Ratna Varma. Meanwhile, Urmila Matondkar, who took a hiatus from the industry at the height of her career, recently made headlines for filing for divorce from her husband, Mohsin Akhtar Mir, in late 2024.
