The controversy began after Parthiban made a remark during the event that many viewers considered inappropriate. Referring to Trisha’s character Kundhavai from Ponniyin Selvan, he said, “Indha Kundavaiye konjaneram kunthavaikkirathu nallathu (It is better to ask this Kundavai to sit at home for a while).” The remark drew criticism online and Trisha later reacted strongly to the statement on social media.

After the clip circulated online, Trisha Krishnan posted a response on social media criticising the remark. In her message, the actress wrote, “A microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder.”In his video statement, R. Parthiban attempted to explain his perspective. He began by distinguishing between a mistake and deliberate wrongdoing.He said, “A mistake is doing something unknowingly. A wrongdoing is doing something willingly. Let me be clear about both.”Parthiban confirmed that Trisha’s photograph appeared on the screen while he was speaking about actors Vijay and Ajith Kumar during the event. He insisted that the appearance of the image had not been planned by him. However, he acknowledged reacting emotionally when he saw it.According to Parthiban, “Yes, Trisha’s photo came up when I was speaking about Vijay and Ajith at the Galatta event. I was shocked. I didn’t plan it. But when it appeared, I said what I felt.” He also added, “I said it in anger. And I meant it.”

Following that advice, Parthiban said he asked the organisers to delete the clip. However, it had already circulated online.He also mentioned preparing a note expressing regret and recording a video for International Women’s Day. Parthiban later reacted to Trisha’s response as well, stating, “I was affected by a third person and her third-rated tweet (X post).”At the same time, he emphasised that he does not object to her right to criticise him.
