Sunny Deol will be seen next in ‘Lahore 1947’ along with Preity Zinta and the film is produced by Aamir Khan. Recently, several reports suggested that the film may undergo a title change. The new title of this movie, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, was rumoured to be ‘Batwara 1947’. Amidst these rumours, Aamir Khan has now confirmed that he does not intend to change the title. Speculation about a possible change began after some industry chatter suggested that an Indian film named after a city in Pakistan might face hesitation among audiences in the present climate. But according to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Aamir has no plans to give in to such concerns. Addressing the rumours, he laughed and said, “Where did you hear that? No, the title of our film has not changed. As of now, it is Lahore 1947, and that’s how I would like it to be.”
The report also noted that there is indeed a title-related issue, though it has nothing to do with political sensitivities or audience perception. Filmmaker Suneel Darshan currently owns the rights to the title Lahore, and discussions are underway to resolve the matter. The issue is expected to be settled soon.Earlier, Santoshi spoke about the film and the experience of collaborating again with Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol. “It’s a reunion with the most talented people. I worked with Aamir in Andaz Apna Apna, and this time he is collaborating as a producer. On the other hand, with Sunny Deol, we made the most loved films like Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak,” he said.He also shared his excitement about the creative team working on the project. “For a film of this magnitude, I can’t think of anyone else than AR Rahman as a music composer; he is one of the top composers in the world right now. Javed Akhtar and I share a very good bond with each other for many years; having him for this project as a lyricist is a delight. This is truly the best dream team and rare to come together.”‘Lahore 1947’ is currently expected to arrive in theatres around Independence Day.
