IPL 2026 tragedy: British broadcast engineer found dead in Mumbai hotel

A 76-year-old British broadcast engineer working with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 matches was found dead in his hotel room in south Mumbai, police said on Tuesday.As per news agency PTI report, the deceased, identified as Jan William Langford, was discovered unconscious in his room on Monday morning. Officials from Marine Drive police station said a case of accidental death has been registered, and further inquiries are underway to ascertain the exact cause.The sudden death has cast a shadow over ongoing IPL operations in Mumbai, where Mumbai Indians are set to play remaining home matches at the Wankhede Stadium.
