The news has prompted a response from her ex-husband Kevin Federline, who has broken his silence on the matter through his attorney.People confirmed on Sunday, April 12, that she had voluntarily entered a treatment facility. Her decision came after she was arrested on March 4 on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol in Ventura, California. She was released the following day.

Per TMZ, on Monday, April 13, Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan issued a statement saying that Federline, 48, “is aware of the reports that she has checked into rehab.”“He is happy that she is getting help and that the decision appears to be one that she made and not one imposed upon her by others, if it was,” Kaplan said. “The key is that whatever the recommended treatment plan is, she follows it and completes it.”Following Spears’ initial arrest in March, Kaplan had also said on March 6, “Kevin hopes for the best for Britney, and if help is necessary, he hopes that she will neither resist it or those who are attempting to work with her. The concern is whether this is just a one off or a one more.”Federline and Spears met and married in 2004 and filed for divorce in 2006. They share sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.

Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.“Following the arrest, the report from the above-mentioned outlet revealed Spears was “very upset and shaken” and “terrified of going to jail.” The report added, “It’s taken weeks for her to realize that going to rehab is the best option. Her team has pushed for treatment since her arrest. People around her do care a lot and are constantly trying to support her, but it can be difficult. There have been a lot of concerns since the arrest.“It was also reported that Spears was “encouraged” by those close to her to seek treatment. “She understands the seriousness of her situation and feels this was the best step moving forward,” said the report.
