Shane Nigam‘s investigative crime thriller ‘Dridam’ is preparing to reach digital audiences after completing its theatrical journey. The film, which arrived in cinemas on May 8, marked the directorial debut of Martin Joseph.Martin Joseph had previously worked as a longtime associate of filmmaker Jeethu Joseph.The makers have now officially confirmed the movie’s OTT release plans.

Streaming update for ‘Dridam’

‘Dridam’ will begin streaming on JioHotstar from June 12. The announcement was made through an official social media update by the platform.Sharing the release information, the platform wrote, “A hunt for justice. A fight for the truth. #Dridam streaming from June 12 on JioHotstar”The film places Shane Nigam in the role of Vijay Radhakrishnan, a newly appointed Sub-Inspector. He takes charge at a rural police station expecting a relatively calm beginning to his new assignment. However, the situation around him changes rapidly after multiple criminal incidents begin disturbing the area.Murders and a bank robbery soon create serious challenges for the officer. Vijay finds himself pulled into increasingly complicated investigations as he attempts to uncover the truth. The screenplay has been jointly written by Jomon John and Linto Devasia.

Martin Joseph opens up about script changes

Martin Joseph recently spoke about the film’s creative development in an interview with Variety. He revealed that one particular line connected with the film was not originally written into the screenplay. The director explained that the idea emerged after sharing the script with Jeethu Joseph.Martin said, “I had given the script of ‘Dridam’ to Jeethu Sir for his perusal. One of the suggestions he made was the inclusion of this popular line from his film. He thought it would evoke intrigue in audiences as to whether there is a ‘Drishyam’ connection to the film or if the character simply uses a pop-culture reference that seemed apt in the moment.”

Lessons from Jeethu Joseph shaped the film

Martin also reflected on the lessons he learned while working alongside Jeethu Joseph over the years. He said, “One of my major learnings has been about realistic storytelling. Jeethu Joseph’s repeated commentary to his associates is about the importance of a strong screenplay, as it forms the foundation of a movie and connects audiences to the story and characters.”Along with Shane Nigam, the film also features Sanya, Shobi Thilakan, Krishna Praba Nair, Nandan Unni, Dinesh Prabhakar, Kottayam Ramesh and Bitto Davis in important roles.
