Saif Ali Khan, who was recently seen in the cop drama ‘Kartavya’, has now opened up candidly about the early years of his career, the slumps, the lucky breaks, and more. The actor also talked about why he believes the film industry today is far less forgiving than before. Let’s take a look at what he has to say.
Saif Ali Khan reveals how he survived in the movies
Saif Ali Khan has never shied away from acknowledging that his early work was far from impressive, and he doubles down on that honesty now. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, the actor shared how he managed to stay afloat and said, “I survived because there was a massive patch where nobody wanted to do those movies that I was doing. It wasn’t that I was getting the best films in the world repeatedly despite not being good. There was a strong downward movement, but then there was luck.”He also credited the audience of that era for being more accommodating, adding, “It was a simpler time; people were much more forgiving.”
Saif Ali Khan talks about kids Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan
During the conversation, he was asked whether today’s star kids, including his own children Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, are written off far too quickly. The actor acknowledged the generational shift and said, “It was definitely a more forgiving time [when I came] and today you need to be much more prepared than we were. But the whole concept of preparation has changed, and some actors have always done that. I remember Hrithik Roshan obviously prepared his dance and his physique and all these things before his debut. But the concept has changed, and the whole world of movies has kind of changed.”He added that he has shared this reality directly with Sara and Ibrahim, while also acknowledging the pull of the big screen for young actors. He said, “It’s a different time, and I’ve said this to them [kids Sara and Ibrahim] also: that you have to prepare, but these are also producers’ calls. Sometimes it’s difficult to remember what it’s like when you’re in your early 20s. The big screen has such a strong pull that people feel that they are ready and they want to be ready. So it’s a tough one. I think to have a successful job, you have to be very blessed in life in any field.”Saif concluded his words, saying, “But our field has become extremely extreme. It’s always been competitive, but people are less forgiving now certainly than they were.”
