In the latest update in the ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, the actress has reportedly requested additional time from a federal judge to submit documents detailing the ‘attorney fees’ she intends to seek from the ‘It Ends With Us’ director.According to TMZ, the actress’s legal team had until June 22 to submit the ‘attorney fees’ that was awarded to them following the resolution of the lawsuit. However, as per the latest reports, her legal team has reportedly submitted a letter to the court, asking for an extension of the upcoming deadline.
Blake Lively seeks extention on ‘attourney fees’
In the filing, Lively’s lawyers reportedly argued that they require time to ‘pull together all the relevant arguments and billing records’. The actress has reportedly requested at least a seven-day extension, with the possibility of extending the deadline by as much as 30 days, potentially pushing the submission date into mid-July.According to the filing, the actress and her legal team have also cited their ‘busy schedule’, claiming that they are also dealing with a “number of conflicting personal and professional obligations, including international travel,” as another reason for seeking additional time. The judge has not yet issued his ruling on the request.
Legal fees still to be determined
The court ruled early this month that Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, must cover a part of the legal fees Lively incurred while defending against his countersuit. However, the exact amount Baldoni may be required to pay is still under review by the court.
Baldoni’s attorney calls for closure
Meanwhile, Baldoni’s attorney Bryan Freedman addressed the ruling during an appearance on ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’. When asked if the actress was trying to ‘punish’ the director, even after ‘settling’ the legal dispute, Bryan said, “What we’re here to do is to move on – to allow people finality. To allow them to have peace. To allow Justin to have time with his family… And honestly, the same for Ms. Lively – to allow her the dignity to move on with her life, and put this all behind everyone. I’m sure people would have made other choices had they considered this in hindsight, but the truth is, when you settle, you should settle. Wish the other party the best, and move on…”The final amount that Baldoni will have to shell out over the ‘It Ends With Us’ legal battle, is currently being assessed by the court.
