An Austrian man accused of having links to the foiled terror plot targeting Taylor Swift’s Vienna concert is reportedly facing a possible death sentence in Saudi Arabia. As per the latest reports, the man, a 21-year-old, is currently on trial over a separate alleged terrorist attack and is reportedly facing an execution sentence. The 21-year-old suspect, identified only as Hasan E as per Austria’s strict privacy laws, is accused of carrying out a stabbing attack in the Saudi city of Mecca in March 2024, the Daily Mail reports. Prosecutors allege that the attack, which left five people injured, was carried out by Hasan on behalf of ISIS.According to the report, Hasan E was arrested on March 11, 2024, the day of the alleged stabbing spree. He was later linked to a wider extremist network that authorities believe included individuals connected to the planned attack on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert in Vienna. While on trial, Saudi Arabian courts have allegedly heard evidence regarding Hasan E’s alleged connections to the terror cell behind the foiled concert attack in Austria in August 2024.As per the report, investigators allege that Hasan E conspired with Beran A, who was later convicted for his role in the Vienna concert plot, and Arda K, another alleged member of the extremist network. Beran A was subsequently sentenced to 15 years in prison for his involvement in the planned concert attack, which could have resulted in mass casualties.Authorities further allege that Hasan E had a close relationship with Beran A, and were allegedly ‘former schoolmate’ and a ‘jihadist mentor’.Arda K was not accused of participating in the Vienna concert plot itself but was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role within the alleged jihadist cell.According to prosecutors, the group had allegedly discussed carrying out coordinated attacks in multiple locations, including Istanbul and Dubai. However, those plans were reportedly abandoned before they could be executed.Reports indicate that Hasan E has repeatedly sought extradition to Austria while awaiting trial in Saudi Arabia. However, those efforts have reportedly been unsuccessful. The verdict against Hasan E is expected tomorrow. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
