Pawan Kalyan starrer ‘They Call Him OG’ received a mixed response during its theatrical run. However, the film’s music by Thaman emerged as one of its most appreciated elements and expectations are high since the team has officially confirmed the sequel to Sujeeth‘s directorial. ‘Kaithi’ actor Arjun Das has expressed strong interest in returning for the sequel, even though casting or any other details have not been officially confirmed yet. For the unversed, Arjun Das was featured in a key role in the first part.
Early stage talks around ‘OG2’
Arjun Das clarified that discussions surrounding OG2 are still in the early stages and no formal decisions have been finalized regarding the cast or shoot schedule. He told IANS, “I am assuming I should be a part of it because he has asked me to take her to Bombay and leave in part one. But again, I think it is too initial as of now because we have just started discussions in the movie.”Speaking about his rapport with Pawan Kalyan, Arjun Das shared that he shares a warm bond with the actor and would readily join the project if approached. He stated, “I call him Annaya now…So, if Annaya calls, I will be there. There are no second thoughts about it.”
Production team hints at sequel development
The production house has also indicated that a sequel is being considered, though the final call will depend on further discussions once director Sujeeth returns from his overseas commitments. The makers shared a Tweet recently that read, “As promised, he will. The timing, he will let us know. Once @Sujeethsign returns from abroad, we will discuss. #OG2”ETimes reviewed the film and gave it a 3-star rating, stating, “Director Sujeeth leans heavily on star power, often at the cost of layered storytelling and character arcs. Several subplots are undercooked, and familiar tropes such as the wife’s murder and the daughter’s kidnapping feel formulaic. Thaman’s rousing soundtrack, however, injects energy into the action sequences.”The review further noted, “The film has its shortcomings in emotional depth and narrative finesse, but it still succeeds as a stylish action drama with flair.”On the other hand, Pawan Kalyan’s previous outing was ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh,’ which received mixed reviews from fans and critics.
