John Oliver has confirmed that he will be appearing on ‘General Hospital’ for three episodes in the first week of July.

Emmy-winning host and executive producer John Oliver has landed a role in the long-running American soap opera General Hospital. Months after launching a humorous campaign to score a part on the show, his wish has officially come true, with his appearance confirmed for episodes airing in July.

John Oliver confirmed on the June 28 episode of his show that he will be appearing in General Hospital. Following the announcement, he shared a statement that read, “General Hospital was everything I hoped it would be. It’s a true honor to be a small stain on the history of this illustrious show.”The comedian will appear in three episodes of General Hospital, set to air on July 2, 3 and 6 on ABC.According to PEOPLE, citing a press release, Oliver landed the three-episode role after publicly campaigning for a part on the show in March. General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini said in the release, “When John Oliver publicly threw down the gauntlet and said he wanted to appear on a soap, we didn’t hesitate for a second. He was everything you’d hope he’d be: prepared, professional, funny and genuinely kind to everyone on set. He plays an integral character in the story, and I can’t wait for fans to see who he crosses paths with in Port Charles.”

About John Oliver’s plea for ‘General Hospital’

Oliver made the plea during the March 8 episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Speaking about his admiration for General Hospital, he jokingly lobbied for a “juicy” role on the long-running daytime drama.General Hospital is one of the longest-running soap operas in American television history and has been on the air for more than six decades. The series airs on ABC and is also available to stream on Hulu. Over the years, it has won 18 Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Daytime Drama.
