Amarnath Yatra 2026: Second batch of 3,865 pilgrims leave Jammu

JAMMU: The second batch of pilgrims departed the Yatri Niwas base camp for the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath Ji early Friday. As a precautionary measure, J&K administration issued an advisory late Thursday, warning that non-registered yatris would not be allowed to undertake the yatra.Of 3,865 pilgrims in the second batch, 1,735 left via the shorter Baltal route and 2,130 opted for the traditional Nunwan-Pahalgam route, escorted by armoured vehicles and security personnel. The official advisory urged pilgrims to arrive in J&K only after completing registration in advance, stating that tatkal registration slots were extremely limited. “It is not possible to accommodate thousands of pilgrims arriving in J&K without registrations under the tatkal facility. Such pilgrims are requested to wait for their turn and travel only on the date assigned by the administration,” it said.Officials said many registered pilgrims were arriving in J&K ahead of their scheduled travel date, but they would be allowed to embark on the pilgrimage only on their registered date.
