India made two changes for the fifth and final T20I against England at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, with teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi left out of the playing XI.Sanju Samson replaced Sooryavanshi, while all-rounder Suryansh Shedge came in for Washington Sundar as India looked to end the series on a positive note after already conceding an unassailable 3-0 lead.At the toss, captain Shreyas Iyer explained that the team management wanted to test different combinations rather than dwell on the series result.“I just want them to give hundred percent effort, irrespective of the result. I just want them to have a solid set of mindset where they just go in and try to get the best out of themselves, rather than sulking or being in that situation where you are a bit hurried out the game, give yourself some time, relax, take a breather. So just be in the moment and stop thinking about what’s happened or what’s going to happen,” he said at the toss. When asked about the changes, Iyer said: “We’ve got two changes. Suryansh Shedge in for Washington and Sanju Samson comes in for Sooryavanshi. I feel this is the time we need to try what’s the best going forward for us as a team. So based on that, we decided this.”Sooryavanshi, who made his international debut on the tour, endured a difficult outing in England after showing promise in Ireland. India opted to give Samson an opportunity in the series finale as they assessed their options ahead of upcoming assignments. After winning the toss, India chose to bowl first, but England’s batters made full use of the conditions. Jos Buttler smashed 131 off 64 balls, while captain Harry Brook remained unbeaten on 95 as the hosts piled up 257/3 in 20 overs. The pair shared a blistering 233-run stand for the second wicket after Phil Salt’s early dismissal. For India, Shivam Dube picked up two wickets, while Prasidh Krishna claimed one.
