News of his ill health sparked worry among his fans and well-wishers, who expressed concern for his recovery.
FWICE President confirms discharge, upcoming travel plans
The actor was reportedly discharged recently and is now recuperating at home. He is also gearing up to get back to work soon. BN Tiwari, President of FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees), told Bollywood Hungama, “Rajesh Sharma ji recently got discharged. He is currently recuperating at his residence in Mumbai. He is also set to travel abroad in the days to come to shoot for a project.”
How the incident unfolded on July 8
According to statements issued by actress Sudipta Chatterjee and filmmaker-producer Agnidev Chatterjee shortly after the July 8 incident, Sharma was bitten by the insect while conversing with local technicians in an area with thick vegetation nearby. Since the bite didn’t seem serious at the time, he skipped immediate medical care and took his scheduled flight to Kolkata. Soon after, though, he began experiencing intense pain in his right leg, ran a high fever, and grew increasingly restless — prompting his admission to Manipal Hospital in the city.
Update on his condition days later
A few days later, Sudipta Chatterjee shared an update noting that the actor’s condition had improved, though he remained hospitalized at the time.
Akshay Kumar sends warm wishes for recovery
Once word of Sharma’s health spread, Akshay Kumar took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his concern for his fellow actor. Sharing a picture with Sharma, he wrote, “Very concerned to hear about my dear friend Rajesh’s health condition after an insect bite while shooting. Hope Mahadev blesses him with fast and complete recovery. Jaldi theek ho ja yaar, abhi saath baith ke bhot hansna hai.”
