After ‘Border 2’ Ahan Shetty to step into the horror genre with Vikram Bhatt’s ‘1920 Cold Winter’, makers begin hunt for female lead ahead of November shoot

Ahan Shetty is reportedly ready to venture into unexplored territory with his next project. After making headlines with the success of ‘Border 2’, the actor is now said to have signed filmmaker Vikram Bhatt‘s upcoming horror film ‘1920 Cold Winter’, the latest chapter in the popular supernatural franchise. The film, backed by producer Anand Pandit, is currently under development, with script work still in progress.

A new genre for Ahan Shetty

Having made his acting debut with the romantic action drama ‘Tadap’, Ahan has been gradually expanding his film choices. Before stepping into the horror space, he will be seen in director Tinu Desai’s ‘Sanki’.As stated by Mid-Day, reports suggest the actor was keen to take on a project that offered a fresh challenge. “Ahan’s next move is all about experimenting with different genres. After beginning his career with ‘Tadap’, he wants to avoid repeating himself and is consciously picking films that allow him to explore new characters and worlds. ‘1920 Cold Winter’ will mark his first horror film,” a source revealed.While Ahan’s casting is reportedly locked, the team is still looking for the female lead. Reports suggest the makers are interested in casting an established actress rather than introducing a newcomer. If the project stays on schedule, Vikram Bhatt is expected to begin filming around November.Preparations for the film are expected to begin soon, with Vikram Bhatt and Anand Pandit reportedly planning a location recce in Scotland. Apart from international locations, significant portions of the horror drama are also expected to be filmed in Shimla, adding to the eerie atmosphere of the story.

‘1920 Cold Winter’ will be the sixth film in the long-running horror series. The franchise began with ‘1920’ and later expanded with ‘1920: Evil Returns’, ‘1920: London’, ‘1921’ and ‘1920: Horrors of the Heart’.
