Veteran Malayalam actor, writer, director, and producer Sreenivasan passed away on Saturday, December 20, at the age of 69. With his passing, Malayalam cinema has lost one of its most honest and fearless storytellers.Soon after the sad news broke, many Malayalam film celebrities took to social media to share their grief and love for the legend.

Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran shared an emotional note on Instagram. He wrote, “Adieu to one of the greatest ever writer director/actor! Thank you for the laughs and the thoughts! Rest in peace legend!”Prithviraj Sukumaran and Sreenivasan has acted together ‘Celluloid’ which was released in the year 2013.

Basil Joseph remembers his childhood hero

Director and actor Basil Joseph also shared a heartfelt message. In his Instagram note, he wrote, “Srini sir, thank you for all the laughter and warmth you gave us. You were a big part of our childhood and our happiest memories. You may be gone, but you will always live on through your work. Rest in peace, legend.”

As a director, Sreenivasan proved his brilliance with films like Vadakkunokkiyanthram and Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala. Both films won major awards and were praised for their strong emotions and social themes. Over the years, he received many Kerala State Film Awards and other big honours.

His final on-screen appearances

Sreenivasan was last seen in Dhyan Sreenivasan’s ‘Aap Kaise Ho?. He also made a recent comeback with the comedy-drama Kurukkan.
