‘To Catch a Predator’ was an extremely popular TV legal reality show, which aired in 2004 and had a successful run up until 2007. Robert Pattinson has taken up his next role as the host of said show, Chris Hansen, in ‘Primetime.‘ The first trailer for the upcoming film, which will chronicle the rise and fall of Hansen and the show, has officially been released online.

Trailer for ‘Primetime’ out now

The trailer for ‘Primetime’, which is based on the popular American reality TV show ‘To Catch a Predator’ presented by Chris Hansen, provides an up-close and personal look into what went down in the show and behind the scenes. The clips show a person arriving in an undisturbed home as cameras pan on him from all directions. Starring Pattinson in the lead role as Chris Hansen, the film also features former NBCUniversal boss Jeff Zucker, who plays himself, as he delivers the first voiceover.Zucker is heard saying in the trailer, “I don’t like your show, but America loves it! So I need to move you to “To Catch A Predator” at 9 p.m. primetime. Another clip follows, showing Hansen standing in a hallway, excitedly shaking his hands as he comments, “I’ll be bigger than Lost!”

The show had adults cosplaying as minors, talking to adult men on websites, and luring them out to a safehouse in hopes of having intercourse with minors. The film is slated to chronicle the rise and fall of the show and Chris Hansen. The film has been in development since 2024, which Deadline first reported.Alongside Pattinson, the film also stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers. ‘Primetime’ is slated to reach theaters on September 25, 2026.
