Mr. Pant outlined a long-term development vision centred on climate resilience, sustainable growth and creating more opportunities in Uttarakhand’s hill and rural regions. “In all our future planning, we will have to put climate at the centre of the discussion,” he said. The conversation also explored migration, education, connectivity and the need to create livelihoods closer to home. “People migrate, but it should not be distress migration,” Pant said. Looking ahead, he highlighted the possibilities that better connectivity and technology could create for the hills, with Vision 2047 incorporating the idea of “work from the hills, work from home, work from the mountains.”
