Mollywood star Mamitha Baiju is riding high on the success of films such as ‘Dude’, ‘Jana Nayagan’, and the actress is now all set for her most awaited Suriya project ‘Vishwanath & Sons’. The ‘Premalu’ actor recently recalled a school-day incident involving Suriya.The actor shared the memory while attending the Kerala pre-release event of ‘Vishwanath & Sons’. Mamitha revealed that she had once wanted to travel to Kochi to meet Suriya.However, her parents did not allow her to make the trip. Years later, she finds herself sharing the screen with the same actor.
Mamitha Baiju recalls Suriya’s 2015 visit
Speaking at the Kerala pre-release event, Mamitha went back to 2015. She was studying in Class 8 at the time, while her brother was in Class 11. Suriya had visited a popular Mall in Kochi for an event. Mamitha’s brother and his friends decided to travel to the city to see the actor.As quoted by Reporter website, Mamitha said, “In 2015, sir had come to a mall in Kochi for an event. At the time, I was studying in Class 8 and my brother was in Class 11. My brother and his friends went to the mall to see Suriya. I really wanted to meet Suriya sir too, but my parents didn’t let me go.”Mamitha explained that travelling from Kottayam to Kochi was not an easy decision for her family at the time. “Back then, even travelling from Kottayam to Kochi was a big deal. My brother met Suriya sir, took a photo with him and came back. When he showed me the picture, I felt really upset.”
From fan moment to film set
Mamitha said she feels fortunate about how circumstances have changed over the years. “But today, being able to act in sir’s film and stand here with him at Lulu Mall in Thiruvananthapuram feels like a great blessing,” Mamitha said.
About ‘Viswanath and Sons’
‘Viswanath and Sons’ has been written and directed by Venky Atluri. Suriya headlines the film, while Mamitha plays the female lead.The project also features a large supporting cast. Raveena Tandon, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Nassar and Sudha are part of the ensemble. Kalyani Natarajan, Raghu Babu, Sunil Reddy, Rajiv Menon and Bhavani Sri also appear in the film.The cast further includes Viva Harsha, Kaali Venkat, George Maryan, Hyper Aadhi, Srija Ravi and Sarvadaman Banerjee. The film is touted as a family entertainer. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music for the film.‘Viswanath and Sons’ is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on August 14, 2026 and Suriya is expected to score another hit after his comeback movie ‘Kauppu’ which was directed by RJ Balaji.
