Nearly two decades after sharing the screen in ‘Chak De! India’, Sagarika Ghatge and Vivan Bhatena are set to work together once again. The actors have reunited for an upcoming film, giving fans a nostalgic glimpse of their latest collaboration from the sets. Vivan recently took to Instagram to share a playful picture with Sagarika from the sets of their new project. In the photograph, the two actors can be seen seated on chairs while posing with peace signs for the camera.Sharing the picture, Vivan wrote, “#reunion after 20 years… new film coming next year,” and tagged Sagarika in the post. The upcoming film is currently untitled; the makers are keeping details about its storyline and other cast members under wraps. The project is scheduled to arrive in 2027.

Sagarika and Vivan previously appeared together in the 2007 sports drama ‘Chak De! India’, which featured Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. Sagarika portrayed Preeti Sabarwal, one of the players on the Indian women’s hockey team. Vivan, meanwhile, played Abhimanyu Singh, vice-captain of the Indian national cricket team and Preeti’s fiancé in the film. Directed by Shimit Amin, ‘Chak De! India’ went on to become one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated sports dramas.Their latest reunion has therefore sparked considerable nostalgia among fans who remember their characters from the popular film.

Sagarika Ghatge returns to films after motherhood

The upcoming project also marks an important return for Sagarika, as it will be her first film since she became a mother. She and former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan welcomed their first child, a son named Fatehsinh Khan.Sagarika has largely stayed away from the limelight in recent years. Her last film appearance was in the 2020 release ‘Footfairy’. Before that, she also explored the digital space with her OTT debut in 2019.The actress played ACP Sakshi Ranjan opposite Karan Singh Grover in ALTBalaji’s ‘BOSS: Baap of Special Services’. With her new film alongside Vivan, Sagarika is now set to return to the screen after a considerable break.
