Taking cognisance of two BJP MPs’ complaints against Rahul Gandhi for levelling “defamatory” allegations against home minister Amit Shah, Lok Sabha secretariat has sought the leader of the opposition’s reply to Speaker Om Birla by Aug 28. The MPs, Sanjay Jaiswal and Anurag Thakur, had filed separate complaints to Birla, accusing Rahul of violating parliamentary rules during his speech in the House on July 30.Rahul had claimed Shah’s hand in police excesses against student protesters. Official sources said Birla would decide whether to ask the House’s privilege committee to look into the allegations or close the matter after taking note of Rahul’s response.
