When asked if he would follow Thalapathy Vijay’s path and enter politics in Karnataka, Yash said his immediate focus is still cinema. “I feel I still have a lot to do as an actor. Right now, my focus is on how I can position our industry in a better way. I don’t have any taboo about politics because, ultimately, it is about making decisions and working for people. If I ever feel there is a need and a possibility in the future, I will think about it. But honestly, I have no such plans right now,” he said. His answer suggests that politics is not currently on his agenda, despite his strong popularity.

Yash also addressed the much-discussed budget of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. He clarified that the reported Rs 4,000 crore figure is for both parts of the film, including release and promotional expenses, rather than the first part alone. “That is a misconception. The Rs 4,000 crore is for the two-part film, including release and promotion. It is the Hollywood way of looking at the numbers. The revenue is global too, so the investment has to match that ambition,” Yash explained. He also stressed that Indian cinema needs to think beyond domestic markets and use films as a form of cultural soft power.

Yash’s ‘Toxic’ release comes before ‘Ramayana’ global ambition

Yash plays Ravana in ‘Ramayana,’ with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The two-part epic is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, with Yash also serving as a co-producer. ‘Ramayana Part One’ is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 6, ahead of Diwali. Before that, Yash will arrive on screen with ‘Toxic,’ directed by Geetu Mohandas. The gangster drama also stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi, and is slated for release on August 26. With both projects aiming for a wider audience, Yash’s current focus remains clear — expanding the reach of Indian cinema before making any decision about politics.
