The year 2020 brought a dramatic turning point in actor Rhea Chakraborty‘s life, following the death of her former boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput. A few months ago, the Central Bureau of Investigation filed a closure report in the case, absolving Rhea of any wrongdoing. She and her brother, Showik Chakraborty, had earlier been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with a drug case tied to Sushant.

Rhea, who’s currently seen in Season 2 of ‘The Traitors’, recently featured as a guest on Farah Khan’s YouTube vlog, where the two spoke about what Rhea refers to as her Chapter 2. During the conversation, she opened up about the difficulties her family went through in the wake of the intense scrutiny surrounding Sushant’s death and her own arrest. She revealed that her father, Indrajit Chakraborty, a retired army officer and former medical corps administrator, also suffered professionally, having been let go from a job. “Papa got a very big job as a medical superintendent at a very big hospital in town.. and then they found out his surname and said, ‘Sorry, aap Rhea Chakraborty ke father ho toh aap yaha kaam nahi kar sakte (You are Rhea Chakraborty’s father so you cannot work here),” she shared. Her father also joined in on the vlog, saying he was looking forward to the good food they would cook up in their new kitchen, to which Farah said she had roast chicken ready for them.

Following the death of her ex-boyfriend, actor Sushant, in 2020, Rhea endured time behind bars along with widespread social ostracisation. Relief finally came her way last year, when the CBI’s closure report cleared her name entirely. She has previously admitted that the entire episode left a deep impact on her mental health, leading to PTSD.

During the show, a sharp remark from co-contestant Mallika Sherawat brought back memories of Rhea’s time in jail. The moment came about after Rhea stood up for Munawar Faruqui, who had made a comment about Mallika’s “comeback.” Rhea says, “I don’t think that was something so bad.” Mallika shot back, “Oh, this is your comeback? Who is he to comment on that, Rhea? Is this game about comeback? I would also say, ‘Oh Rhea, you were in jail. This is the big comeback for you?’”. Rhea maintained that Mallika’s remark was far more personal and hurtful than anything Munawar had said to her.
